Why I choose DU: I chose DU because of the smaller community. I felt I would be able to become more involved and influential on the campus and be exposed to great opportunities (which I have!) I also love the location and the beautiful campus.

Favorite Memory of DU: The end of my sophomore year, DU was hosting an event called LiveSTRONG Day. It just so happened that Lance Armstrong would be making an appearance to campus and speaking on behalf of the event. I was asked by Student Life to introduce Lance at the event. When I met him, I just stuck out my hand and could not even form a sentence! It was such an incredible experience to meet my personal hero and tell him how much he has influenced my life.

Internship Experience while at DU: Jefferson County Department of Health, Tobacco Cessation and Health Education; Summer 2008

Why I chose to study abroad:  I chose to study abroad in San Jose, Costa Rica because I wanted to improve my Spanish-speaking ability. I loved CR because of the beautiful rainforest. I could go for a hike and see monkeys, then spend the afternoon on the beach! Who knew! I truly loved the culture of the people and the genuine kindness they all showed me, especially when I couldn’t translate my thoughts correctly.  Studying abroad gave me a better sense of independence and really allowed me to discover who I am.
