Why I choose DU: Before coming to DU, I had never been to Colorado. Coming to Denver was my first time here and when I stepped onto this campus I immediatley fell in love with it. I enjoyed the feel of being a city campus but not having to be in the heart of downtown. I also felt that the small class size and professor interaction was a huge draw for me to come to DU. Having always wanted to go to a large public university, the small size of DU and the strong buisness school were also big draws for me. The quarter system was a big influence too, because I felt that with the quarter system, I could take more classes in different disciplines before deciding what I wanted to major in. Having changed majors quite a few times, the main reason why I am graduating on time still is because of the quarter system we have. Plus, a six week winter break isn’t to bad either!
My favorite memory of DU: I have had so many great memories at DU so far, but if I had to pick one, it would probably be the rafting trip I took with my fraternity both in the spring of 2008 and spring of 2009. It really opened up the range of activities that are located in the mountains which are so close to DU. It had been hard to take adavantage of everything that is offered in the mountains, but the rafting trip was what sparked my interest in going back and doing more activities up in the mountains. I had never gone rafting before this and I had a blast doing it. After both trips, I then convinced some friends to go towards the end of the school year. It was a great experience and one that I won’t forget.
My internship experience while at DU: During the spring of my freshman year, my political science professor at the time knew that I really wanted an internship working at the Democratic Convention that August. He had heard from a friend at a local news station that FOX News Corp was hiring interns for the Convention. He sent my name off to them and I was contacted and submitted a resume and was offered an internship working for FOX during the DNC. The experience of being on the floor of the convention and be a part of such a historical moment for this country was an unforgettable experience.
