Some people may not believe in love at first sight, but Christopher Adams, BS '05, is living proof that it can be the basis of a lasting relationship.

"I fell in love with DU the moment I visited the school," says Adams, who first set foot on campus as a high school student. "I felt the science education offered at DU would prepare me well. And it most certainly has."

Adams is thriving at Harvard Medical School, and he credits the rigorous academic program at DU for much of his success. "DU prepared me both in and out of the classroom," he explains. "The education I received was superb and I learned leadership skills that serve me well. I'm very involved at Harvard Medical School, and I'm still using tools I learned as an undergrad."

A molecular biology and biochemistry major with a minor in medical physics, Adams counts his tenure as president of DU's student government body among his favorite undergraduate experiences.

"The position taught me what true leadership is, and it allowed me to grow tremendously as a person," Adams says. "DU is the type of place where you can get involved and actually make a difference on campus. The administration truly cares and listens to student concerns."

In the classroom, Adams benefited from the opportunity to work closely with faculty mentors, particularly Joseph Angleson, an associate professor in DU's Department of Biological Sciences. "Even at Harvard, where I'm exposed to 'world experts,' Dr. Angleson is still one of the best teachers I've known," Adams says. "He took time to know me and challenged me to reach my full academic potential."

Wherever life and his career in medicine take him, Adams says that DU will remain close to his heart. "Some of the best years of my life were at DU," he says. "I entered a high school student, but left a citizen with the tools to become a leader. Even though I'm happy to be at Harvard, DU will always be the institution I call home."
