  • The middle 50% range of need-based awards for first-year students- $10,673 - $26,502.  Eligibility for need-based awards are determined by the results of the FAFSA and CSS PROFILE applications.

Financial Aid (Need-Based Awards)

The Office of Financial Aid works with each admitted student to make DU affordable. To receive consideration for need-based funds, you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  You will also need to submit the CSS PROFILE if you are a first-year or transfer student entering DU.  Depending on your financial circumstances, you can obtain need-based grants in addition to a merit award.

Your financial aid award may include a mix of federal, state and institutional grants, scholarships and loans. Most awards are renewable throughout your four years at DU if you continue to meet eligibility requirements.

How to apply for Financial Aid

Follow the steps below as a simple and convenient guide to apply for financial aid at the University of Denver.  You can also view a video about applying for financial aid, which outlines the process for students.

Step 1:
Complete the CSS PROFILE for 2009-2010.  Be sure to include the DU school code of 4842.

Step 2:
Complete the 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Be sure to include the DU school code of 001371.

Step 3:
The Office of Financial Aid may contact you by email for additional documents, including 2008 tax returns or Federal Verification forms.  Please respond quickly to these requests to avoid delays in your financial aid award notification

Late February-Financial Aid award notification for Early Action admitted students

March 1-FAFSA, CSS PROFILE and supporting documents due for all admitted students*

Late March-Award notification sent to admitted students

May 1-Deposit Deadline all students

*Supporting documents take a minimum six-weeks to process before awards can be sent. Supporting documents may be submitted as soon as possible after the CSS PROFILE and FAFSA are submitted.
